Jeff Goldblum Continues His THOR: Ragnarok Press Tour Perfection

Even if Thor: Ragnarok is the worst superhero movie we’ve ever seen, it will have all been worth it for the press tour. Avengers-adjacent press tours are delightful in general, but this one has a bright, shining star we’ve never seen in Marvel movies before and now hope to see straight through the end of days: Jeff Goldblum.

Goldblum, who plays The Grandmaster in Ragnarok, has been a geek favorite since the halcyon days of Jurassic Park (and, if you’re truly stanning, Earth Girls Are Easy before that). His popularity has never really dwindled; he seems to pop up everywhere in the past decade, from Portlandia and Wes Anderson movies to some deeply weird commercials for Apartments.com. Most recently, though, he’s become Twitter’s boyfriend as @MarvelStudios shares his reactions to the #WhatsRagnarok hashtag. Now, we’ve received what may be the greatest gift of all: Goldblum singing a commercial jingle and dragging a Twitter user for their very bad jokes.

Take a moment to think about what you’ve just seen. First, there’s the cardigan. It’s what Goldblum’s been sporting in all these videos, and it’s nothing short of flawless. Then there’s the familiar cadence of Goldblum’s voice as he begins reading the tweet, first analyzing the username, then singing a jingle that sounds like something he’s convinced himself is real, and then, the japes. Goldblum labels the tweet (a series of plays on the words “rag” and “rock”) “antics with semantics,” a phrase so perfect it would make a poet weep. Listen. The world’s having a rough go of it right now. Any bright spot is welcome, and does any shine so luminously as Oscar-nominated actor and grand champion of our hearts Jeff Goldblum? Didn’t think so. Shine on, you crazy Goldblum.
