Jamie Foxx Joins ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS as ‘Little John

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx is a very merry man…or at least, he will be. Foxx is reportedly set to join the upcoming Robin Hood: Origins as Little John, the most famous member of Robin Hood’s Merry Men.

Foxx’s Little John will be a radical reinterpretation of the character, who fought against the invading Christian armies during the Crusades, while Robin Hood stood on the opposing side. That divide will cause Little John and Robin Hood to initially distrust each other. But like all Robin Hood tales, Robin and Little John will eventually find camaraderie and brotherhood in pursuit of their common goal.

In addition to winning the Best Actor Academy Award for Ray, Foxx is known for his roles in Django Unchained, Collateral, Horrible Bosses 1 & 2, and White House Down.

Robin Hood: Origins features Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton in the title role and it is described as a gritty reimagining of the Robin Hood legend in which Robin and a band of outlaws come together to rid Sherwood Forest of the corruption that has overtaken it in his absence. Eve Hewson will portray Robin’s love interest, Maid Marion. But her character is also likely to be revised for this story.

It’s not currently clear when Robin Hood: Origins will begin filming. Otto Bathurst is set to direct the film, but the production will have to wait until after Egerton finishes his work on Kingsman 2.
