James Wan Eyed To Direct AQUAMAN

Although we are more than three years away from seeing it hit movie theaters, the big screen version of DC Comics’ Aquaman is already circling a director: James Wan, hot off the massive global success of Furious 7. Aquaman already has a star in Game of ThronesJason Momoa, who was cast for as the character for Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and will have a bigger part in 2017’s follow-up Justice League. The script for Aquaman is currently being developed by two different writers, with Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad writing separate scripts for the project.

After making his name by directing the original Saw (and producing the rest of the sequels), Wan became Hollywood’s go-to horror guy. He went on to direct Insidious 1 & 2, as well as The Conjuring, easily one of the best horror movies of the past decade. With Furious 7, Wan has proved he can do more than just horror, so a superhero movie seems the next logical step for him. Heck, Furious 7 pretty much is a superhero movie already in its own weird way. Wan is committed to shooting The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist this year for a 2016 release date, so if he does indeed take the Aquaman gig, it will have to be right on the heels of that movie having wrapped.

This news about Wan, when coupled with the news that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are possibly directing The Flash and Michelle MacLaren is taking the helm on Wonder Woman, shows that Warner Brothers and DC are making smart, interesting choices for their solo DC superhero movies. Now lets all cross our fingers that they announce someone equally awesome for Green Lantern.
