James Gunn Wrote Dialogue for the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Before the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie hit theaters a few years back, the majority of the population had never heard the names Star-Lord or Rocket Raccoon. Sure, the characters had existed in the comics for years, but they were pretty much considered to be D-list heroes. It’s fair to say that James Gunn’s 2014 film put the definitive stamp on those characters for just about everyone. So with the Guardians appearing next in Avengers: Infinity War under the stewardship of directors the Russo Brothers, will our beloved Guardians even feel like the characters we know?

As it turns out, we probably needn’t have worried. We’ve learned, via Superbro Movies, that while appearing at Awesome-Con this past weekend, Drax actor Dave Bautista gave those in attendance a wee bit of behind the scenes info from the set of Infinity War. It seems that James Gunn helped out when it came to the film’s portrayal of the Guardians, and he even wrote some of their dialogue. Bautista wouldn’t share any more details than that, but if we are to go by everything we’ve seen of the characters so far in the trailers, these definitely feel like James Gunn’s characters.

Having Gunn lend a hand in crafting the Guardians in Infinity War is a smart move, and shows just what a well-oiled machine Marvel Studios is at this point under the guidance of Kevin Feige. It seems that Feige wanted to be 100% certain that those characters’ authentic voices translated completely intact when they weren’t in the own movie, well aware that the audience would notice right away if they were suddenly “off” somehow. Of course, we won’t know for sure until Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters in a few weeks, but this news should put the minds of most fans at ease.
