James Gunn Says GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Will Happen

There’s almost as much cinematic goodness in today’s Movie Morsels as there is at the local multiplex. James Gunn is already proclaiming there will be a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we’ve got a new Ghost in the Shell behind-the-scenes featurette, we have four (!) new clips from the Power Rangers reboot, and much, much more. So read on, rad readers. Read on!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Just in case anyone was still harboring any doubts, writer-director James Gunn has reconfirmed that there will be a third feature-length foray into the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speaking with Complex about his new indie horror film The Belko Experiment, Gunn said that, yes, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is going to happen. He’s just in the process of figuring out if it’s the movie he wants to make next…

“There will be a Guardians 3, that’s for sure,” says Gunn.  “I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing.”

Ghost in the Shell

Though steeped in controversy, the live-action Ghost in the Shell looks as beautiful as any screen cyberpunk fantasy we’ve seen since The Matrix. And its latest behind-the-scenes video again implies that in most ways it seeks to honor its ’90s source material.

Power Rangers

We’ve got four–count ’em–four new clips from Lionsgate’s new Power Rangers reboot for your perusal and amusement, showcasing the new team of young heroes who are all that stand between Earth and its destruction at the hands of Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Replusa. Will they prove as successful as TV’s original Zord-riders? See for yourself…

Suicide Squad 2

While the search for a Suicide Squad 2 director has been getting a lot of ink lately, the most important question (as anyone who saw last summer’s unevenly scripted mega-blockbuster will tell you) concerns just who will be writing this thing. Today, we have an answer! Adam Cozad, who wrote the screenplay for Margot Robbie’s other movie last summer, The Legend of Tarzan, has been given the job of penning the screenplay for our second cinematic go with DC’s band of unsocialized roustabouts. Yeah, I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing either.

The Devils

Devils 1

Few films have the reputation of Ken Russell’s 1970s religious horror phantasmagoria The Devils. Starring Vanessa Redgrave and the late Oliver Reed, it’s been banned in some form or another in most English-language countries in the world since its release. Well, those of you who’ve never seen it are about to get some inkling why. Because the original U.S. theatrical release version of The Devils is finally being made available for American movie-lovers to watch via the horror network Shudder. Hurrah! And God help us…

Coco

Cars 3 is racing into theaters soon, but we already have the trailer for Pixar’s next epic. Coco is a tribute to the Mexican holiday of Day of the Dead, and director Lee Unkrich’s first film since the amazing Toy Story 3. And Coco‘s trailer looks spooky and beautiful.

Avengers: Infinity War

Thanos Infinity War

Last but not least today: Because we’re a bunch of spoiled and impatient fanboys and fangirls, we’re no longer asking what Avengers: Infinity War will look like. No way. Now we’re asking what the post-Infinity War Marvel Cinematic Universe will look like.
