  1. Patrick says:

Looking forward to the next new episode guys. Don’t sweat the people who come on here to give crap about the time between episodes. I’ll be listening, and so will they.

  2. doofus says:

    unsubscribed

  3. bondgames says:

Lets play that old bond game “make up a bond girls name” to pass the time. I’ll go first.

    Baroness Bagel hole Von Tunascooper

  4. Spencer says:

Go to their twitter, THEY ARE BACK

  5. Bob Kelso says:

UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!! Why do I still do this to myself, nothings ever going to change : (

  6. Donavan says:

If your not going to do the podcast anymore (which is clearly the case at this point) just issue a public statement to that effect and take the website down.

  7. Mike Brivel says:

I used to look forward to Thursdays. Now I just want to shoot my face like every other day… Frown.

  8. jbone says:

you didn’t have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don’t even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No you didn’t have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don’t need that though
Now you’re just somebody that I used to know

    – This song never made sense till now. I miss you 007

  9. Mike Brivel says:

So, we’re not doing these anymore? Too bad. I really enjoyed them.

  10. Jonah Ray says:

I know you’ve recorded 3 or 4 podcasts you haven’t released, or my name isn’t the real Jonah Ray.

  11. Otis Ball says:

I only discovered this pod in December. I have listened to them all and I am now listening to Mission Briefing #2. I NEED MORE!!!! This is my new favorite pod!!!!!!

  12. RIck K says:

I know I shouldn’t complain about a free podcast, but I’d pay for this if it helped get a move on things. We’re on the 4th month of the year and we have had ONE official episode in 2014. I don’t want to be mean, it’s only because I enjoy the podcast so much that I rail in anger.

  13. Joshua Bryan Hammack says:

Need my Bonding over Bond fix.

Help us Matt&Matt, you are only hope.

  14. Mark Reed says:

Get a move on guys! It’s been FAR too long since you last had an episode. With EYEAN FLYMING.

  15. Tina says:

Any chance we will get a new episode soon?

  16. Kevin says:

    Love the podcast.
As Roger Moore fans you should check-out the movie ‘ffolks’ (if you have not already). Would make for a great James Bonding additional materials podcast!

  17. Tina says:

This was a delightful episode, the only problem with it was that it took an hour for Eye-an Flyming to show up.

Also your totally wrong about Brosnan, he is a solid #2 after Roger Moore and Sean Connery tie for #1.

  18. Manuel Royal says:

Great podcast; very enjoyable. Matt, you were excellent; Matt, you did okay.

Listen, I’m only gonna make complaints when it relates to the essence of the podcast, i.e., the world of James Bond. And it’s an attempt to be helpful, not a put-down. Here:

SPECTRE: Special Executive for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion.

You keep saying “Counter-Terrorism”, but if you think a moment about what that term means, you’ll realize it’s the opposite of what SPECTRE does.

I’ve been thinking about why Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan just don’t quite work for me as Bond. They’re both good actors, and Dalton especially brings the sort of ruthless, dangerous quality Bond needs. But they both had two handicaps: 1) Generally weak scripts; 2) Already being familiar actors.

Expanding on that second point: Bond movies were my introduction to Sean Connery. He’s done a lot of other stuff (like “Robin and Marian”, one of my favorite movies), but I’ll always think of Bond first. Same with Roger Moore, and to some extent with Daniel Craig (I think I’d only seen him before in “Layer Cake”, which is a tough British crime movie, so it’s not that far removed).

But Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan were both already established in my mind, and I think with the general public, as familiar actors. Ridiculous as it seems, that makes one aware that the guy’s just *pretending* to be James Bond. The Bond movies require a hefty suspension of disbelief.

So I’m hoping that whoever is the next Bond will be a relative unknown.

  19. Katie McGillicuddy says:

Tom Hiddleston for next Bond and Mrs Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, for next Bond girl.

  20. ian says:

Loved the story of lil’ Matt suited up with his toy gun strapped under his arm.

  21. Wildride says:

Sounds like “He’s Dangerous” playing in the background from A View to a Kill.

  22. Joseph Finn says:

Wow, not one person put Roger Moore at the end where he belonged? It goes Connery>Craig>Dalton>Brosnan>Lazenby>Nelson>Moore for me, for what it’s worth. Excusing the Moore performances on the horrid scripts he was saddled with only goes so far.

  23. Joshua Bryan Hammack says:

I enjoyed your latest podcast. I laughed and almost spit out my juice. I can’t wait until you guys get to Dalton. He is my number two favorite Bond, and sometimes vacillates to my favorite Bond.

  24. Connor says:

Could MG please critique James Bond’s surf style, and please give me some tips on getting started in the sport.

  25. Three Toes of Fury says:

    .
If a restaurant or diner doesnt, immediately, add a menu item named The Gourley (a guiness, corned beef sandwhich, and deep fried snickers bar), i will be sorely dissapointed.

Wonderful podcast sirs…laugh filled….thanks for the free funny!

Peace .n. Surfing with Gourley in the 90s

    3ToF

  26. Logemaru says:

Brosnan got stuck with some real turd sandwich scripts, but that whole era (and Dalton’s too really) were very wayward I think. As Matt explained, they suffered from trying to compete with the big action franchises of the 90s, and poor Broz couldn’t decide which Bond he was supposed to be…

Anyway, loved the ep guys, a lot of fun. Matt Mira, please get 198High5 up and running, lord knows you need another podcast!

  27. Admiral Kent says:

Thank God Teddy Ruxpin is unavailable for the Eva Greene interview. Jennette McCurdy is probably still getting over him touching himself under the table.

  28. Admiral Kent says:

I agree with Matt G. Pierce Brosnan’s a great guy…but as Bond he was a complete vanilla place holder.

  29. Louis says:

    007 – Timothy Dalton

    M. Penny – Naomie Harris

    Q – T. Dalton “uncle” era

    Bond girl – Wai Lin

    Henchman – Red Grant

Big boss – Dr. No (played by Andy Lau)

  30. Sydney Richardson says:

Great episode. I’m all for more Mission Briefings.

  31. Pan of Steel says:

Great stuff, chaps! I’ll admit, when I pressed ‘play’ this morning I didn’t expect to hear about Matt Gourley: Restaurant Doctor – or indeed, hear about his deep fried Mars bar, Peter Tork hair, surf dude phase – but I’m all the happier for it.

    Keep it up!

  32. vismund says:

Tilda Bowie would be a interesting villain. i cant wait to listen to this at work tomorrow its been a long time. (btw you guys should have Brian Quinn on)

  33. Spencer says:

Dear Matts I loved the episode, it wasn’t shitty it was a lot of fun like the Roger Moore Era. Quick question, Should Tilda Swinton be the next villain, maybe lady Blofeld?
