Jackie Chan and Sylvester Stallone Are Finally Going to Be in a Movie Together

What do you get when you combine one of the biggest action movie stars of the past 40 years and probably the most successful martial arts actor of all time? Apparently the answer to that is a movie called Ex-Baghdad, since Sylvester Stallone and Jackie Chan are set to star in the Chinese action film together.

Details about the movie are scarce thus far, but we do know via The Hollywood Reporter that Need for Speed director Scott Waugh is in negotiations to head this production. The film is about two ex-special forces soldiers who must bring a group of civilians to the safety of Baghdad’s Green Zone, traversing the “Highway of Death” along the way. The movie has a budget of about $80 million, which is apparently pretty high for a Chinese production.

That’s really all we know about the film at this point, but as Vanity Fair points out, a collaboration between Chan and Stallone has been inevitable for a while now. After Stallone presented Chan with an honorary Academy Award last year, he posted a photo of the two on Instagram and captioned it, “Hopefully we will be working together real soon! We still very much love what we do… even if it still does HURT!”

Chan also once told the story of the time he stayed at Stallone’s house 24 years ago, when he hugged and kissed an Oscar trophy. Chan has an Academy Award of his own now, and hopefully Ex-Baghdad is another worthwhile entry in the action icon’s storied filmography.

Do you plan on checking out Ex-Baghdad? Give us a shout in the comments and let us know what kind of movie you expect this to be!
