Today is World Math Day, my favorite math holiday after Pi Day and Mole Day. 5.3 million students from 218 countries participate in a huge collective to answer as many math problems as possible. This year they hope to pwn over 1 billion. That is a substantially large amount of calculations. They aren’t playing around. This is straight bid-ness. Regardless of the overall total, the top performing students and classes win sick medals and trophies. I don’t know about you, but all I would care about are the sweet bragging rights.
Honestly, I’m a doubter. I don’t know if they can do it. At the time of writing this (4:30PM PST), they’ve only answered 370 million correctly with roughly 10 hours left. You can track the students progress as well as donate to the program and UNICEF here.
To celebrate this day, I’ll share this AMAZING SITE WITH MORE FACTS ABOUT NUMBERS THAN YOUR FAT HEAD CAN HANDLE!
