In the alternate world of Independence Day, Jeff Goldblum‘s character, David Levinson is even more famous than Goldblum himself. But that’s to be expected when you’re one of the men who saved the world from an alien invasion. We’ve actually seen Levinson and Goldblum meet each other in a previous promo for Independence Day: Resurgence, but now there’s an even more bizarre situation for Levinson to deal with.
CraveOnline has debuted a new video from the Independence Day: Resurgence Blu-ray and DVD special features, which finds Levinson roped into appearing on It’s Early, Albuquerque, a morning television talk show hosted by Fred Armisen’s Terry Dudley. However, the show’s originally scheduled guest was Julius Levinson, as played by Judd Hirsch. Amusingly, the elder Levinson wrote a book in which he took credit for saving the world in the first film.
Some of the highlights of the above clip include David Levinson’s absolute bewilderment at Dudley’s inane questions and Dudley’s inability to grasp why more alien technology isn’t available to the public. Levinson actually did manage to put some fear in Dudley with his sober prediction that the invaders would return… which, if you’ve seen the sequel, you know would turn out to be prophetic.
If that’s not enough, Independence Day: Resurgence co-star Liam Hemsworth also makes a cameo in this scene… but in a far less heroic part than his character Jake Morrison.
Independence Day: Resurgence is out this week on Digital HD, with a Blu-ray and DVD release slated for Tuesday, October 18.
