IT: CHAPTER TWO Casts 2 Major Supporting Roles

IT: Chapter Two is ramping up to begin production in July, and now two more supporting roles have been filled. First reported by Deadline, the New Line Cinema sequel has announced the addition of new characters to round out the supporting cast. Tom at the Farm star Xavier Dolan has been tapped to portray Adrian Mellon, who, in the Stephen King novel, is a minor gay character who is harassed by the homophobic townsfolk of Derry and ultimately meets face-to-face with Pennywise. Meanwhile,Queen of the South‘s Will Beinbrink will play Tom Rogan, adult Beverly’s abusive boyfriend.

Dolan and Beinbrink join an all-star cast, including the actors portraying the Losers’ Club as adults. Familiar faces like X-Men‘s own James McAvoy, Bill Hader, and Jessica Chastain takes on the roles of Bill, Richie, and Beverly, while horror vet James Ransone picks up the mantle of Eddie, Transformers: The Last Knight‘s Andy Bean takes on Stanley, Top of the Lake‘s Jay Ryan plays Ben, and Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments‘ Isaiah Mustafa has been cast as Mike. The entire cast will be rejoined by Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd as the terrifying clown Pennywise.

IT: Chapter Two picks up years after the end of the first film. The Losers’ Club is flung to the four winds as adults, but a tragic event brings them all home to Derry again. Buried childhood trauma at the hands of Pennywise then send the adult Losers’ spiraling back into the abyss. The King novel blended both stories into a single novel, but IT director Andy Muschietti, who returns to direct the sequel, separated the two tales in order to give each enough screen time.

IT: Chapter Two is set for release in theaters on September 6, 2019.
