Inventive Pet Owner Creates LEGO Wheelchair for Sick Hedgehog

There’s a lot of garbage in the news, so when a bit of cute good news like this comes along we’re compelled to share it. What’s a pet owner to do when their hedgehog becomes too weak to walk? Build a wheelchair out of LEGO, that’s what.

Meet Chappi the hedgehog (who should totally be renamed to “Bionic The Hedgehog” now) who has trouble getting around these days due to a condition called Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome. It’s a degenerative disorder that eventually causes the loss of muscle control in some hedgehogs. While that’s certainly a bummer, it’s nice to know that Chappi’s owner didn’t want the beloved pet to give up mobility and decided to do something about it and explained further in an Instagram post:

As you know, my little girl can’t walk anymore, she is just too weak. We could see that she could move her little feet, so i decided to try making a wheelchair. At the beginning i had no idea how to build one, but then we discovered that @lego actually a very cheap and useful option. She’s getting used to the chair, after almost 3 moths without walking. She’s a little fighter.

Though Chappi has to live with WHS, there’s still fun to be had, including the most adorable bath time we’ve ever seen.

Sheesh, don’t you just wish you could send a thank you note to the concept of the internet for occasionally giving us things this cute? How many stamps do you think it’d take? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
