Inked Wednesday #67 – Boba Fett, Link, and More

Like fashion and hairstyles, tattoos have trends. As artists perfect different techniques or establish them, the tattoos of the time match their work. Cut.com celebrated the evolution of tattoos over the last 100 years by recruiting a volunteer via a want ad, Casey Lubin, and inking her skin with 11 different tattoos over the course of a week. They chose designs representative of various trends by selecting one artist’s style to mimic from each decade. It’s a lovely tribute. Artists include Jack Rudy, Sailor Jerry, Nikko Hurtado, and Charlie Wagner among others.

The video below shows the works in progress and the final results by artist Clae Welch (it probably goes without saying, but don’t watch the video if you’re anti-needles):

Incredible, huh? Tattoos are art. Don’t forget it.

This week’s Inked Wednesday has several beautiful pieces–like this Boba Fett:

You probably know the drill, but in case you don’t: I want to see your geeky ink. Send me photos of your tattoos, or if you’re a tattoo artist, send me pics of your work. You can leave links to images in the comments, tag/mention me on Instagram, or get pics to me on Twitter. Whatever your preferred delivery method, remember that high-res pictures are preferred (but not necessary) and to include the name and shop of your tattoo artist.
