As someone with several small tattoos, I forget how long it can take to complete bigger pieces. I’ve never had to consider it, but it’s definitely a factor to think about when you’re eyeing a half-sleeve, a full-back piece, or anything larger than the size of an apple. If you don’t think you can stand hours under the needles of the tattoo gun, talk to your artist about how you can break the experience up into more tolerable sessions. It’s fine to take it slow. The Star Wars and Doctor Who mash-up in the gallery below took a year and a half to complete.
Be sure to check it out as well as a Star Wars and Borderlands mash-up, a gorgeous tattoo inspired by Tangled, and more in this week’s Inked Wednesday:

As always, I want to see your geeky tattoos. Share links to pictures in the comments or send photos to me on Twitter. Don’t forget to let me know who the tattoo artist is!
