When it comes to women who kick ass, Marvel has more than a few options. There is always room for more female characters, of course, but their roster isn’t shabby and includes some rather formidable allies and foes.

Morphsuit has figured out a system to rank 20 of those characters using ratings of their badassness, fighting skills, strength, and weapons/superpowers. Obviously, some of the rankings are subjective–figuring out someone’s badass level isn’t exactly scientific–but it’s a decent overview.

As you can see, Gamora, Elektra, and Black Widow rank at the top of the list–even though Captain Marvel is first on the graphic, others have more stars than her. The three I mentioned appear to have the highest marks in all areas, though I think there should be a way to account and adjust for the effectiveness of their weapons. Black Widow’s gauntlets aren’t as useful in a fight as Elektra’s sai, and Emma Frost’s diamond skin can’t quite be compared to any other weapon. Maybe I’m putting too much thought into this. No, I’m definitely putting too much thought into this. Discussion of the formula used to come up with the ratings aside, it makes me happy to see such a variety of female characters and their powers highlighted.
