Iggy Pop and Josh Homme Debut New Collaboration on COLBERT

Imagine Batman v Superman, but instead of all of that “do you bleed? You will” animosity, both superheroes picked up a couple of axes, stood back to back, and started melting the faces of their enemies with some righteously twisted rock n’ roll. Add in some tattoos, subtract some shirts and superpowers (maybe), turn those enemies into rabid fans, and you got yourself the real-life super musician mash-up that is Iggy Pop and Josh Homme.

Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures) and Pop (he doesn’t really need any introductions, but yes, frontman for The Stooges), have teamed up to produce an album entitled Post Pop Depression. And last week on The Late Show, after performing one of their new tracks, “Gardenia,” they stuck around to unleash another titled “Break Into Your Heart.” And now, thanks to the wonders of YouTube, that second performance is available to watch online for those who weren’t in the audience (check it out above).

Although no new supergroup between the two iconic rock n’ rollers has been announced, we do know that we’ll be getting at least the one sure-to-be glorious nine-track album, which is set to drop on March 18. There will also be a short follow-up tour. Along with Pop and Homme, sonic firepower is also provided by drummer Matt Helders of the Arctic Monkeys as well as Queens of the Stone Age/The Dead Weather’s guitarist and keyboardist Dean Fertita.

Below, you can check out Pop and Homme’s performance of “Gardenia” on The Late Show, as well as an audio clip of “Break Into Your Heart” played on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show, which includes Homme discussing the making of the track.

What do you think about Pop and Homme teaming up for Post Pop Depression? Are you psyched to see this collaborative duo in action, or would you rather they not try to break into your heart? Let us know in the comments section below!
