Oh, this will be a good week to be listening to what we have for you at the Nerdist Podcast Network. Really good:
Josh Homme is back on the Nerdist Podcast this week, but this time it’s not all about Queens of the Stone Age or Eagles of Death Metal, because he’s bringing Iggy Pop with him. Josh collaborated on the legend’s new album Post Pop Depression, and they’ll be talking about some of the stories that have surrounded Mr. Osterberg since the ’70s, so you’ll hear the truth about things like stage antics that weren’t what you’ve heard, or drug use that might have been worse. (My first rock concert was Iggy Pop in the wilds of New Jersey a long, long time ago, so this is, like, THE podcast for me. And Kyle and April are also Ig fans and get in on the act to ask questions, too….) Expect this one to hit on Tuesday.
And a second Nerdist Podcast will feature Melissa Rauch, who’s gotten famous as Bernadette on The Big Bang Theory (and this) but who has so much more going on that you may not know about, so listen to hear about her movie work, writing with her husband, her standup career, family, and, yeah, Big Bang. Her new movie, which she and her husband Winston wrote, is The Bronze, in which she plays a foul-mouthed former bronze-medal gymnast facing local-celebrity competition from a young upstart, hits theaters Friday, as will this podcast.
More? Sure. Listen for Tom Papa to take on the responsibility of making things weird on You Made It Weird. Two fascinating comic minds, one fascinating podcast.
Recorded live in Austin this week, The Jonah Keri Podcast welcomes Matt Mira — oh, there WILL be Boston sports talk — and Justine Siegal, who served as an instructional league coach for the Oakland A’s in the Arizona Fall League and has been the first female coach of a pro men’s team (the independent Brockton Rox in 2009), the first female MLB batting practice pitcher (2011 spring training, Cleveland Indians), and now the first woman to serve as an MLB coach of any variety. Think she’ll have something to talk about? You’ll hear it all on Friday.
Doug Petrie & Marco Ramirez (Daredevil together, tons more individually), Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight, Dexter, Jessica Jones), Jason Katims (Roswell, Friday Night Lights, Parenthood), Jessica Goldberg (Parenthood, The Path): more big name Hollywood creators do The Writers Panel this week, and if you have any interest in TV or movies or writing or creativity or anything, you owe it to yourself to listen to this show, not just this week but anytime.
We’ll also have director David Lowery — not the Cracker/CVB guy, the movie maker guy — on Love, Alexi. And actress Violett Beane will be slingin’ facts on Today We Learned.
You’ll find all these (subject, of course, to schedule and recording changes) and many more at the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage and Facebook page. Come, listen, subscribe, eat, pray, love.
