Idris Elba Says Loki and Heimdall are Set For AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

The last two weeks have been an insane ride for Marvel Studios. It all started when the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer was leaked ahead of its planned debut on an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., this of course coming after the news break that Robert Downey Jr. was set to play a significant role in the upcoming third Captain America film in a storyline that would adapt the famed “Civil War” arc from the comics. Eventually things took an official turn this past week when Marvel revealed all its upcoming phase three films including Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Inhumans, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and, most importantly, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2. However, with all the attention drawn to phase three, we can’t forget that Age of Ultron is still a short few months away, and knowing that, today’s news comes with great excitement.

For a while now, we’ve worked off the assumption Joss Whedon’s upcoming sequel would be a highly earth based film, venturing very little into the ever expanding cosmic end of the MCU. But that may not be true as, in an interview with The Telegraph, actor Idris Elba dropped a line that’s blown our minds: “I’m in [Avengers 2]… and I’m doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston.”

Whoa, back up, so wouldn’t this mean Loki is in Age of Ultron? Despite the fact that last year Whedon and Hiddleston both confirmed he wasn’t? Well slap us silly as it appears Marvel’s pulled another fast one on us. However, there could only be a half-truth to Elba’s statements. It is entirely possible what was shot is a scene for Avengers 2, but maybe it’s a post-credit scene for Avengers 2. Loki is supposed to appear in Thor 3, so perhaps said scene could be set up for that film, or maybe even Guardians 2. Just because it’s a scene for Avengers, there’s no telling where that scene’s going to appear.

What do you think Idris’ statement means for Avengers: Age of Ultron? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. John R says:

One scene? Perhaps post-credits to set up Thor: Ragnorok…

  2. Greg Muise says:

    I have a SECRET…Idris ELba needs to be Batman.yup.Watch Luthor.You are Welcome.

  3. LAB says:

I doubt Hiddleston will be in more than one scene – probably a vision from the Scarlet Witch showing Thor what is happening back in Asgard. Still stoked, though.

  4. AKSHUN says:

I think he means he was in Avengers 2, til he spoiled his cameo and probably gets cut lol.. And a quick Black Panther intro is most likely the end credits scene

  5. It’s also been said that he’s to have a fair sized part in Infinity War pts 1 & 2. I’m calling it here: Loki is to play the part that Mephisto had in the original Infinity Gauntlet (the voice in Thanos’ ear – trying to manipulate the Big T into losing and even try and grab the gauntlet for himself)Oh, and Thor to have the part vacated by the Silver Surfer in the comics.Of course, if Mephisto is the big bad in Dr Strange and not Dormammu, then please forget I said all this….

    • … And Guardians 2 will introduce Warlock and the plot will be based on the Magus/Church of Universal Truth. (which will also give us the Soul Gem) Just a hunch…
