The journey to the Aaron Sorkin-written, Danny Boyle-directed biopic on Steve Job has been a long one, especially when it comes to casting. For a while, it appeared as if Leonardo DiCaprio was going to take the crown jewel role of the famed Apple CEO, but that talk quickly turned to Christian Bale⦠at least until yesterday when the Dark Knight actor dropped out of the running. So far, the only confirmed (and we use that term loosely) piece of casting is with Seth Rogen in the role of co-founder Steve Wozniak. However, if it a new report is to be believed, thereâs a new name in the mix for Steve Jobs, and itâs a good one.
According to Variety, X-Men: Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender is in talks for the leading role in Boyleâs film, however thereâs no confirmation at this time of the actorâs concrete casting.
Fassbenderâs proven himself capable over the years of being able to walk the line of seasoned film actor and popcorn movie star. Whether itâs young Magneto, a sex addict, an android or a slave owner, the manâs always capable of bringing the goods. It would also be interesting to see what he can do when paired with a team as capable as Boyle and Sorkin. While it would have been nice to see David Fincher in the directing role, Boyleâs no slouch by any means, and we have no doubt heâll be able to get the best performance he can out of Fassbender should the actor land the role.
