Rapper and television star Ice-T keeps busy. Besides his acting gigs, he has a bimonthly podcast called Final Level and apparently records audiobooks. He recently stepped into the recording booth to lay down tracks for a book, and upon arriving, learned the material was a “Dungeons & Dragons” book. Or as he put it, “They didn’t tell me this was a motherf**kin’ Dungeons & Dragons book.”
He relates the experience in Episode 3 of his podcast (which, by the way, is so not safe for work), and it’s comedy gold. Ice-T goes through some choice phrases to describe the challenge, and Paste noted some gems:
[Dungeons & Dragons] is âsome of the most crazy, deep, deep, deep nerd shit.â
“Motherf**kers talk like Yoda.â
“They were talking about âpegasusesâ and âpegasi.â Thatâs horses with wings,â he continues. âThis motherf**ker got a sword that talks to him⦠Motherf**kers live in places that donât exist, and it comes with a map. My God.â
Oh, the money I would have paid to be a fly on the wall during his recording session. Ice-T said it was only 25 pages of material, but it took him three-and-a-half hours to record it. I bet the experience has taught him to ask specifics about what he’ll be reading for future jobs. Though he didn’t get the title of the audiobook, he says he will let fans know when it is available.
What do you think? Does Wil Wheaton need to get Ice-T on an episode of Tabletop in the near future?
