Fellow children of the 90s, what are you doing this summer? Feel like meeting in Chicago for some AC Sliders and Belding Fries? What about a Preppy BLT or an order of Macaroni and Screech? Maybe we can wash it all down with a Lisa Turtle Milkshake, served to us by Max or Kelly.
Yeah, that’s right, this summer we can all relive our youth at Saved by the Max, a pop-up parody bar and diner inspired by the classic NBC sitcom Saved by the Bell.
For the month of June this summer, at a yet-to-be-determined location in Chicago‘s Wicker Park, a group is putting up an eatery replicating the gang’s favorite spot, The Max. Besides having a chance to take some pictures in the replica restaurant, they say there will be plenty of other fun events planned, including:
- A daily costume contest with a chance to win $100 dollars (You kept that over-sized cellphone in your basement all these years for this exact moment!)
- “Full bar with custom Bayside-inspired booze & cocktails“
- “Night time weekly events including themed karaoke, trivia, and 80s + 90s dance parties” (I consider myself a leading candidate to win “The Sprain” dance-off.)
- “Recreated scripts” and “hilarious tribute memorabilia”
You can follow along for updates on their Facebook page or at their Twitter account, where they note that this is not affiliated with NBC or Rysher Entertainment.
This all sounds like a lot of fun, just as long as no one screws it up by opening up Saved by the Max: The New Pop Up.
What’s the best Saved by the Bell pun-related meal you can cook up? Serve it to us in the comments below.
