How You Can Help Save “Trailers From Hell!”

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yslLDcksXUs?rel=0&w=615&h=346]

A couple of months back, I wrote this piece about one of my favorite websites, Trailers From Hell! Three times a week, the Gurus from the site, including the likes of Edgar Wright, Eli Roth, John Landis, and Guillermo del Toro, give tiny lectures about classic films in the form of commentary over the film’s trailer. It’s a wonderful way to learn about films you love, and discover films you never knew existed. Now, the site needs our help.

The founder of Trailers From Hell!, director Joe Dante (Piranha, Gremlins, Explorers, so many other great films) has started a Kickstarter campaign to cover some of the costs. The site has been running for five years and has over 750 trailer commentaries, and they need a little bit of a push to get up to the 1,000-trailer mark and to advertise so more people can find out about this amazing, fun, and informative website. In just under two weeks, the Kickstarter fund has raised a little over 2/3 of the relatively small sum for which it’s asking. I think we Nerdist folk, known to love science fiction and horror movies, would be the perfect audience to get this thing funded. The prizes offered for the various pledge levels are insanely awesome and range anywhere from autographed posters and DVDs to getting your script read by an Oscar-nominated screenwriter and getting to meet Joe Dante himself! Seriously, read the list; They’re maybe the best things ever.

If you have a few bucks to spare, I’d advise you to kick ’em in. If everybody pitches in a little bit, we can ensure that there will be dozens more hours of free online film-appreciative content. You can pledge by clicking HERE!

Nerdist is in no way affiliated with Trailers From Hell!. It’s just a cool website that I think is worthy of continuing.

Hey, a $150 donation can get you a copy of the book “Monsters in the Movies” signed by John Landis! That book was one of the two on Kumail and Emily’s coffee table in the Indoor Kids vs. Jonah Ray youtube episodes! I may have to chip in on this one.
