Spring is upon us and that often means that flowers are blooming and love is in the air! Unless you live in Emily Blunt’s kingdom as seen in The Huntsman: Winter’s War in which case it’s winter year round and love is forbidden. This week, fans of the 2012 revisionist fairy tale Snow White and The Huntsman are returning to that world as are stars Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. New to the cast are Blunt and Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain, who plays Hemsworth’s long lost love. It’s a tale of magic and romance with some major action and a few laughs mixed in.
Nerdist had the opportunity to sit down with Hemsworth and Chastain and talk to them about bringing their characters to life, the extensive training that was involved with their roles and, of course, their delightful chemistry. For Chastain, the character of Sara was unlike any she’d played before, and for Hemsworth, his Huntsman Eric was given the chance to fill in his tragic backstory that was only hinted at in the first film.
Hemsworth and Chastain also had a little fun talking about the cinematic influences that came before The Huntsman, citing fantasy classics like Willow as inspiration for their performances. And, once you’ve seen the movie, you’ll notice that you can definitely pick up on those sweet Sorsha and Madmartigan vibes.
Don’t miss even more with Hemsworth and Chastain on the Nerdist Podcast, and make sure you catch The Huntsman: Winter’s War, in theaters now.
