When someone says the term “action star,” there are a few faces that immediately come to mind. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Bruce Willis tend towards the top, but the ’80s and ’90s wouldn’t have the splits/movie ratio it did without Jean-Claude Van Damme. While the other guys were more concerned with the size of their muscles, the size of their gun, or how much hair they had left, Van Damme was kicking ass, taking names, doing splits, and growing mullets. There was even a movie where he did all those things, and traveled through time.
The video above from Ubisoft’s own Trailer Director, Benjamin Combes, replicates the style of the Auralnauts video for Sly Stallone we brought to you several months back. The video takes a look through the extensive film catalog of The Muscles from Brussels and tallies up every single time his actions have lead to the death of another character. While Jean-Claude Van Damme comes in with the second-longest video, he actually has the least amount of kills compared to Stallone and Schwarzenegger.
In fact, at 393 kills, Jean-Claude Van Damme is 116 kills below Schwarzenegger, and 146 behind Stallone. Where JCVD shines, however, is in the variety of the kills he dishes out. Stallone may have shot a lot of people and ripped out a throat or two, but only JCVD killed a man by making him collide with his past-self and melt into goo, or feed a woman in a hockey mascot costume through an industrial dishwasher.
