How Han Solo vs. [Spoiler] Should Have Ended in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

There are major spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The Force Awakens! If by some chance you still haven’t seen the movie then you should stop reading now. You’ve been warned!

Still with us? Good.

One of the most pivotal moments in The Force Awakens came on Starkiller Base when Han Solo (Harrison Ford) confronted Kylo Ren a.k.a. Ben Solo (Adam Driver) and attempted to convince his son to return to the light. For a few seconds, Kylo Ren actually seemed to consider it…before he impaled Han with his lightsaber and sent his body into a seemingly endless abyss. Barring something unexpected in Star Wars: Episode VIII, that was probably the last time that Ford will play Han.

A Youtube user called “LevelLord” has created a new video about how Han should have reacted to his son by using the famous swordfighter scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kylo Ren’s mask and red crossguard lightsaber were digitally added to the scene along with a few musical notes from John Williams’ “Duel of the Fates” theme from The Phantom Menace.

It’s a very brief, but amusing video, especially when someone in the crowd steals the lightsaber after the swordsman goes down. Of course, there’s no way that Han Solo would have ever shot his own son. Even after he was fatally wounded, Han still gently touched Kylo’s face before his demise. And Kylo had already demonstrated his ability to freeze laser blasts earlier in the film, so it sadly wouldn’t have made much of a difference if Han shot first.
