Even Honest Trailers Can’t Find Fault with THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

How great is The Empire Strikes Back? It is so great that it is still used as the measuring stick for sequels in other franchises. But that’s nothing compared to latest honor bestowed on it, maybe the greatest compliment of them all for any popular movie: the movie is so perfect that even the Honest Trailers guys can’t find fault with it.

In celebration of the release this week of Rogue One, the team at Screen Junkies decided to take a truthful look at the Star Wars film generally considered to be the best of all the movies set in the galaxy far, far away, and it turns out the honest truth is that The Empire Strikes Back is just as freaking awesome as we all remember it being.

Unless you think the ever-changing pronunciation of “Han” is a major problem, or the fact that the captain of the Millennium Falcon points so much when he talks. If you think about it, even the seemingly needless jumping and flipping Luke does while training with Yoda on Dagobah was worth it for the exercise (even if it didn’t seem to pay off later when Darth Vader was slowly Force throwing pieces of the scenery at him).

If anything, the only thing Star Wars fans will be angry with here is Billy Dee Williams (whose real name, we must remind you again, is William December Williams) calling Chewbacca “the wookiee,” and not knowing C-3PO’s name. Imagine the outcry today if Felicity Jones didn’t know his name was K-2SO

It sure was a different time back then, but the years have done nothing to take the shine off of The Empire Strikes Back. Honestly.

What do you think? Is there any material here for a less positive Honest Trailer? Use the Force–and your keyboard–to tell us what you think in the comments below.
