Coming off the heels of its absolutely amazing second season finale, Nickelodeonâs The Legend of Korra has fans wondering when the new season will premiere. Things got crazy last week when four mid-season episodes were accidentally leaked online by the Mexican branch of the network, which caused a fan trailer to begin circulating, which, in turn, forced Nickelodeon to release an official trailer.
Fans will recall the 1st season was a Saturday morning series that aired in the spring, but after massive ratings success and critical acclaim, the series was moved to a primetime slot fall of last year for season two. That model is what seemed most likely for season three, and many assumed that the news would be made official at the showâs SDCC panel in July. However, it appears thatâs no longer the case, and the premiere of the new season is apparently much sooner than we imagined.
IGN confirmed today the new season of The Legend of Korra will premiere A WEEK FROM TODAY, June 27th, at 7pm.
Now that’s some rapid PR management by Nickelodeon. Itâs surprising that the network isnât even waiting until Comic-Con to launch the new season the following week, theyâre just gonna go ahead and start things ahead of schedule â letâs be honest, without those leaks, this date probably wouldnât be happening.
The best part? (Besides an all new clip from the premiere you can watch down below.)Â Disneyâs premiering Girl Meets World on the same night at 9:45pm. Now thatâs what we call a double feature!
