A HOCUS POCUS Stage Show is Coming to Disney World

The Walt Disney World Resort is stepping up their Halloween game this fall. The Magic Kingdom already makes a big deal out of the holiday each year by hosting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party from mid-September through November, and this time around the villainous bash is welcoming some new faces: the Sanderson sisters! Hocus Pocus on the stage at a Disney park? This is truly a magical occasion.

The witchy stars of the 1993 film–Winifred, Sarah, and Mary–will appear in “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.” Even the name is delightful. From the concept art, it looks like their stage show will happen in front of Cinderella’s Castle in the center of the Magic Kingdom. The idea is that the sisters are throwing an evil and fantastic Halloween party. Special guests appearing in the Hocus Pocus show include Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie, Maleficent, and many more. There will be all the usual Disney fanciness like projections, dancers, and special effects. I’m excited about the show, but mostly, I’m excited to see Disney’s takes on the characters. Their costumes are probably going to be amazing.

If you’ve never been to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on either coast, know that the event is suitable for all ages. It’s really not scary and has great costumes, fun meet and greets, spooky entertainment, and trick-or-treating. Yes, adults can participate in the trick-or-treating. The event has to be booked separately from regular park admission. And please note the Sanderson sisters are only appearing at Magic Kingdom and not Disneyland. Hey, October is a lovely time to visit Orlando plus you can also enjoy Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival while you’re there.

So–who’s hopping on their broomstick to head to Orlando this fall? Let’s get a roll call going in the comments.
