Hi-Yo Silver & All That: New Trailer For “The Lone Ranger”

That’s the new and ostensibly final theatrical trailer for The Lone Ranger with Armie Hammer as the titular masked man and Johnny Depp as Tonto. More action than we’ve seen, a little comedy, mostly a Cliff Notes version of how the Lone Ranger became the Lone Ranger and what his motivation is, but, basically, it’s what you’d expect from Gore Verbinski, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Disney: Explosions, more explosions, still more explosions, moments of humor, trains plummeting, horses on trains, you know the drill. July 3rd.

Oh, and here are some character posters for it:

Say what you will about Disney and how they don’t make many animated greats anymore. But I do like that they’re pretty capable at making pirates, and now, cowboys and indians popular. Those are some classic movie character archetypes.
