Any geek who has a love for fantasy video games, TV shows, or movies has seen at least one episode of the YouTube series, Man At Arms. The original series followed the crew of The Sword and Stone as they would craft weapons seen in our favorite fantasy and science fiction properties as suggested by the viewers.
In 2013, with the creations of Break’s AWE me network on YouTube, Man At Arms was re-branded Man At Arms: Reforged and threw a twist into the show. Not only would they be creating weapons seen in pop-culture, but also creating mash-up and original weapons based on pop-culture as well. The show also moved to a new group of smiths at Baltimore Knife and Sword to craft these pieces of art. So far, the new crew has crafted such iconic weapons as the Gunblade from Final Fantasy VIII, Sauron’s Mace from the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and Dante’s Rebellion Sword from Devil May Cry.
Their newest project travels back into the mystical world of Hyrule as the boys tackle Link’s Hylian shield and an accompanying Master Sword from The Legend Of Zelda:
Â
The episode follows the Stagmer brothers and their fellow smiths step-by-step as they craft a solid, metal reproduction of the Hylian Shield, built to be combat capable. While Ilya does a lot of the artisan work for the design on the shield, Matt Stagmer feels the shield is not enough without the Master Sword to go with it. Though not their first Zelda-based build, the sword and shield are a Nintendo fan’s dream, but the smiths aren’t happy enough with just building a sword and shield without testing them.
Well, maybe nothing that crazy, but it is still pretty fun to watch. What do you think of their build? What else would you want to see them make? Leave a comment below, and make sure to check out more of their videos on the AWE me YouTube channel. Leave them a comment on the shield video for what you want to see built next.
