Ever since the world realized that Nintendo’s Wii U wasn’t a runaway successâthat’s not to say it was without triumphs, because the console absolutely had its momentsâthe question has been, what’s next for Nintendo? For a while, it was the NX, but now, the future is concrete, and we know it as the Nintendo Switch, the hybrid console/handheld that at the very least has people curious.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about the Switch, but we do know that come March 2017, we’ll be able to get our hands on one for ourselves. Jimmy Fallon already got to try it out for himself with Reggie Fils-Aimé on The Tonight Show a few days ago, but um, hey, when do we get our chance?
It turns out that we might not have to actually wait for the console to come out in order to try it. Yesterday, Nintendo sent emails to some My Nintendo members inviting them to upcoming Switch events, where fans can try out the console in real life (via Gamnesia). Spots will be limited, registration works on a first-come-first-served basis, and here’s a list of the confirmed events, which are set to hit a few hot spots around the country:
- New York: January 13-15
- Washington, DC: February 10-12
- Chicago: February 17-19
- Los Angeles: February 24-26
- San Francisco: March 3-5
The Friday and Saturday events for each city will be restricted to invited My Nintendo members, but Sundays will be open to the public, so even if you didn’t get a golden ticket in your inbox, you might still be able to have a Fallon freak-out before March if you’re lucky.
