We’ve been anticipating/dreading A24‘s upcoming horror film Hereditary since it scared the absolute crap out of everyone at Sundance. Now the film’s latest teaser, which introduces us to the Graham family’s strange young daughter Charlie, has only ramped up our excitement, because there are few things more terrifying than a creepy child. But as if that wasn’t enough, she even has her very own Etsy page now, featuring some of her “unusual” arts and crafts. And they are the type of toys a kid can only dream up in a nightmare.
“When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughterâs family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.”
We don’t know what terrifying fate that family has inherited, but it certainly seems to have afflicted young Charlie, because her dark vision of the world is on full display at her “real” Etsy page CraftsByCharlieG, which looks like it will be a huge hit with lovers of the macabre. The first three pieces available–which have already been purchased–are called the Town Crier, the Horned Guardian, and The Ballerina.
Oh…..aren’t they….cute…..in a monstrous way.
Creepy kids are the most terrifying thing in the world, with dollhouses only slight behind them, which means Charlie might be the scariest horror movie character ever. No wonder we can’t wait to see this movie–even if we don’t think we want her “arts and crafts” to haunt our actual home.
Theaters everywhere will inherit Hereditary, written and directed by Ari Aster and starring Toni Collette, this summer on June 8th.
Would you buy one of Charlie’s pieces? Tell us why in the comments section below.
