It’s tiiiii-iiiime, folks: there’s a chill in the air and a pep in Leonardo DiCaprio‘s step â which can only mean one thing. Awards season is coming! And it all starts with the Golden Globes. So who’s up for this year’s categories? Well, the biggest news ’round these parts is most definitely the runaway, awards season success of George Miller’s epic, Mad Max: Fury Road, nabbing 3 nominations including best picture (oh hell yes). Other big winners in film include Iñárritu’s The Revenant, science-a-palooza stunner The Martian, Amy Schumer’s hilarious Trainwreck, and hope-you-didn’t-sleep-on-it comedy from Paul Feig starring Melissa McCarthy, Spy.
We’re also thrilled with the television nominations, which were really all about streaming services Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix alongside prestige cablers Showtime, HBO, and Starz. Over on the acting side of things, we were pleasantly surprised by the nominations, including Rami Malek and Christian Slater for Mr. Robot, and Tobias Menzies and Caitroina Balfe for Outlander. And, of course, we got ourselves a few nominations for Game of Thrones, so basically: we’re pretty pleased overall!
