Her Universe Set to Debut Its First Fashion Show at Comic-Con

Nobody panic, but Comic-Con is just one week away. I know it’s difficult to decide which events to attend during the five day convention but consider adding this one to your list: The Her Universe Fashion Show. Her Universe has been working with us here at Nerdist and Hot Topic to pull together a geek couture runway showing off fan designs. Back in March, Her Universe put out a call asking for sketches of haute couture and geek chic ensembles and selected some of the designers to present their work at fashion show.

The amateurs will be joined by professionals, and a total of 36 designers are set to premiere their original female fashion looks. Two of the participants will walk away with the grand prize: the opportunity to co-design a Her Universe fashion collection for Hot Topic. The audience will choose one winner while a pair of celebrity judges will choose the other one.

Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein says, “The Her Universe Fashion Show is truly a celebration of the Fangirl culture at San Diego Comic-Con, yet it’s an event that everyone will enjoy. We’ve been working hard with Hot Topic and Nerdist to ensure that it’s an exciting event with plenty of surprises!”

The Her Universe Fashion Show takes place on Thursday, July 24th, at 6pm at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in the Harbor ballroom. A Comic-Con badge is required to attend, and entry is first come-first served. Besides the fashion show, Her Universe and Hot Topic will be making an announcement about a new collaboration, and there will be an after party with a performance from All Time Low.

Will we see you at the fashion show? Which pop culture inspired designs are you most excited to see? Let us know in the comments below.
