Her Universe Makes It Marvel with a New Comics-Inspired Collection

Her Universe is venturing into heroic territory with their latest partnership; they’ve teamed up with Marvel to create a line of apparel made for fangirls. And by “made for fangirls,” I mean the clothing Her Universe creates is sized and cut specifically to fit women. No blocky unisex items here! The first wave of the Marvel collection was posted in the Her Universe store today, and the variety of styles offered is promising.

So far Her Universe’s Marvel options include a costume hoodie, several tanks, leggings, a cardigan, and an A-line style everyday cosplay dress. Captain America shows up in several designs, and I’m guessing that’s because of the somewhat recent release and popularity of The Winter Soldier. Other products feature the Avengers logo and symbols, Ms. Marvel, and Rogue. A clever S.H.I.E.L.D. design features the organization’s symbol during daylight with Hydra’s logo glowing through in the dark.

Overall, I’m excited to see the range of products and a lack of “I want to date a superhero” graphics. I’m looking forward to seeing the line expand to include more female superhero representation (my fingers are crossed for a Kitty Pryde or She-Hulk graffiti tank), but this is a wonderful start. The products in the below gallery are available to purchase now, and more items – like a Loki dress and Black Widow hoodie – will be released later this summer.

Shop the Marvel collection at Her Universe and listen to Her Universe Founder, Ashley Eckstein, talk about fangirls and Marvel on The Nerdist Comics Panel podcast this Saturday, June 21.

And if you can’t get enough of geek couture, don’t forget to attend Nerdist and Her Universe’s Fashion Show at San Diego Comic-Con. It’s taking place on the evening of Thursday, July 24 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. The show will feature the work of 36 designers who are competing to win the chance to co-design a Her Universe fashion collection for Hot Topic with Eckstein.
