For the past two years, we’ve been delighted by the adventures of the (mostly) silent Time Lord with a wire skeleton. It’s Doctor Puppet, of course, the web series created by Alisa Stern in which stop-motion joins together with time and space to become something truly bigger on the inside. We’ve already seen six full episodes in which someone (probably the Master) is removing the Doctor’s former selves from history and only the Eleventh Doctor can save them, but there have also been several one-off episodes including two Christmas specials, and it’s these holiday spectaculars that are the focus of a new campaign from IndieGogo.
The Doctor Puppet folk are looking to raise money to make this year’s Christmas special the biggest yet, a musical episode with a full score and orchestra featuring the Twelfth Puppet and Clara. Since all the talented folks behind the scenes make the show for free and in their spare time, the episodes don’t come out as timely (fun word choice) as they might, but if this crowdfunding succeeds, they’ll be able (mostly likely…stuff could happen) to get the episode out by about the first of the year, which is a pretty quick turnaround for stop-motion. But, I’ll let the voice of Doctor Puppet explain further.
Rewards for donating to the campaign include thank yous of many sorts, the chance to go to a Doctor Puppet Picnic during NYCC (you have to get to that city yourself, of course), music downloads, prop raffles, exclusive pictures just for you, and even a chance to visit the set in Brooklyn, NY (again, you have to get yourself there). The campaign is running until October 30th and, as always with IndieGogo, every little bit helps. You can head to the Doctor Puppet IndieGogo page to see the full list of rewards and to donate. Saving the universe is something a puppet can’t do on its own.
Unique. 🙂
