In 1974 Hello Kitty was created and an icon was born. To celebrate the 40 years in the biz, Sanrio is hosting the very first Hello Kitty Con in downtown Los Angeles, the first of itâs kind in the world!
The event will take place at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Downtown LA’s Little Tokyo October 30th – November 2nd. During the 4-day convention there will be panels, workshops, tattoos, food, fashion and more. (Stay tuned to Nerdist.com for an exclusive look into the Hello Kitty Con food workshops.) Basically itâs the stuff of your Hello Kitty loving dreams!
Hello Kitty Con is sold out, but don’t worry: there are plenty of other opportunities to get your Hello Kitty fix over the next month. Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty is an art exhibition right next door to the Con location at the Japanese American National Museum.
The exhibit examines examines the colorful history of Hello Kitty with a look into the Sanrio archive and a selection contemporary Hello Kitty inspired art. Thereâs plenty of time to catch this exhibition, as it runs through April of 2015.
For food lovers, thereâs a special Hello Kitty Hungry Hunt from now through November 21st, where fans can hit up some of the hottest restaurants in LA to pick up specialty Hello Kitty themed food and a souvenir pin at every stop. Special Hello Kitty sausage from Food Network Food Truck Race winners Seoul Sausage, Hello Kitty donuts courtesy of Little Tokyo’s Cafe Dulce and Lollicup Kitty boba, just to name a few. Just think, Hello Kitty donuts and coffee is sure to make any morning ten times more kawaii!
