Boy oh boy, Marvel keeps giving us enticing cameos in their new spate of movies. Hot on the heels of Idris Elba letting slip that Heimdall and Loki will make an appearance in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, it now appears that Hayley Atwell’s super proto-S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Peggy Carter, who first appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger and who has her own series, appropriately named Agent Carter, coming out in January, will also appear in next year’s Phase 3 opener, Ant-Man.
The scoop comes from, of all things, a casting call for stand-ins in the Atlanta, Georgia, area, which is where Ant-Man is being filmed. An “experienced stand-in” is being looked for to double Atwell, and will work in November on a Sunday. So clearly, it’s not a super huge part, but a part nonetheless. It seems pretty likely that we’ll get a flashback to young Hank Pym doing work for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Peggy will be among them.
Atwell has certainly made a splash with fans since her initial appearance in Cap 1 back in 2011. Since then, she’s appeared in a One-Shot short (which sewed the seeds for the TV series), a little bit in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, in a short scene in the season premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and will make an appearance in Age of Ultron as well. It seems like Ultron will basically just be everyone in the whole MCU there for at least a minute. I wouldn’t be surprised if they find a way to work Groot into it somewhere.

Time to preach to the choir: WHERE THE HELL IS THE BLACK WIDOW MOVIE????
Awesome to see Agent Carter appear in more of the MCU. 🙂 Can’t wait for her series as well! I have to make one correction, though…recently Ant-Man has been changed to be the end of Phase 2, Phase 3 now starts with Captain America: Civil War.
I am Groot.
