While many wished to see a renewal order come down for Marvelâs Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this month, the big news every MCU fan was waiting to hear was the possibility of a series starring Captain America co-star, Hayley Atwell, as her famed Peggy Carter. As of this past week, rumors became fact as Agent Carter was officially green-lit for a limited-series event that will bridge the gap between S.H.I.E.L.D.âs fall and spring runs next season.
At ABCâs upfront presentation, the good folks at Marvel had a chance to catch up with Atwell to get her thoughts on her latest project:
In Captain America: The First Avenger, Peggy was portrayed as a super strong woman who had no trouble taking care of herself. Throughout the course of the film, we watched as little bits of emotion slowly crept into the character as she began to fall for Steve. As hoped, it appears the goal of the series is to truly break down the walls of what makes Peggy Carter tick. What makes her cry? What makes her happy? What does she fear? What does she hope to achieve? These are the things an 8-episode TV series can answer much more thoroughly than a two hour film where sheâs a side-character to Captain America.
Like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it appears Marvelâs once again put themselves at the forefront of the television conversation with Agent Carter as fans canât help but anxiously wait for the series to premiere in 2015.
Agent Carterâs pilot was written by Captain America scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and will be run by Reaperâs Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters.

Hope Howard Stark gets a decent role in this and Dominic Cooper comes back to play him.
I’m hoping that Dominic Cooper returns as Howard Stark and also the return of the Howling Commandos.
Glad its only 8 episodes. I think these 20+ seasons don’t work, too long and the story is just stretched out for no need.
Only eight episodes?So it’s a mini-series…I’m sure it will be worth watching,though.
I think it should be longer than eight episodes. I think it should go on for nearly 70 years. Or maybe up until shortly after Howard Stark dies and his son Tony takes over. Eight episodes is just not enough for me. I need seventy years of her to feel satisfied with the show.
(Yes, I know it would be hard to do a show over 70 years. It’s a bit of a joke, but still. Eight episodes seems like very little to me. At least make it go on for five or more years.)
