Maybe We’ll Get More AGENT CARTER, THE STRAIN Final Sesason, and More TV Updates

When television series are canceled these days, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re over. Streaming services occasionally come in and pick up beloved shows for complete seasons or reunions—just often enough to keep optimism alive. I’m still hoping that happens to Agent Carter, and we discuss possibilities for that show’s future in today’s TV-Cap, along with an update about the final season of The Strain, another joyful promo showing Superman showing up in The CW’s Supergirl, and more.

Come Back. ABC canceled Marvel’s Agent Carter too soon. We can all agree on that, right? But Hayley Atwell is invested in Peggy and knows fans are as well. Speaking with CBR to promote her new series Conviction, she talked about how they were maybe going to do a TV special for Agent Carter and about how she wants the character to star in her own movie. A Duty. Queen Elizabeth II, played by Claire Foy, makes her entrance on Netflix on November 4 in The Crown. The drama focuses on Elizabeth’s early life as she takes the throne in her mid-20s. I’m hooked by the trailer above—politics, family entanglements, love. Yeah, I’m sold. And also: Matt Smith plays Prince Phillip and John Lithgow plays Winston Churchill. What more could you want? [Variety]

Renewal and Cancellation Combo. Good news first: Amazon has taken three pilots from its reason pilot season and given them series orders. That means we’ll see more of The Tick (our review), I Love Dick, and Jean-Claude Van Johnson (oh hey, we have a review for it as well). In good and bad news, FX’s The Strain is ending, but they’re getting a final fourth season, coming in summer 2017, to wrap things up. [Nerdist]

You’re a Puppet and a Confidant. The Golden Girls hasn’t been on the air since the ’80s, but people still love Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia—they’re enjoying a renaissance of sorts. So much so that there’s a puppet show parody featuring the characters opening off-Broadway next week at DR2 Theatre. That Golden Girls Show from writer director Jonathan Rockefeller opens on October 3, and I am so intrigued. P.S.: This isn’t his first time doing a Golden Girls puppet parody. [Nerdist]

Perfect. Ash Williams seems like an extension of actor Bruce Campbell since he’s playing the character for so long, but they’re actually different people. Go figure. To help muddle that water, Funny or Die released a video in which Campbell plays a fictional version of himself and talks about having a chainsaw for a hand. It’s glorious (and directed by our very own Andrew “Onyx” Bowser!). [Nerdist]

And… While we’re on the topic, let’s discuss how groovy season two of Starz’s Ash vs Evil Dead looks. It premieres soon, on October 2. Read Alicia’s review.

Spark a Rebellion. Prepare to help form the Rebel Alliance and battle the Empire in the cutest way possible because Funko is releasing a line of Star Wars Rebels POP figures. Finally! The style of the figures seems ideally suited for these animated characters, and I’m going to have to clear shelf space. The toys will be released this fall. [Nerdist]

But Of Course. Sean Maguire’s Robin Hood took a permanent mortal bow in season five of Once Upon a Time, and even though series co-creator Eddy Kitsis recently said “dead is dead,” the character is still coming back for multiple episodes in season six. Maybe it’s a Robin Hood clone? What are your theories? [TVLine]

THE Cutest. If you thought Supergirl and The Flash made an adorkable combo, brace yourself, because Superman’s coming to Supergirl when the show returns on October 10 and it’s precious. It looks like the cousins work well together in this promo, and it’s a blast to see how everyone reacts to Clark Kent and Superman. [CBR]

Get Educated. Curious about the Doctor Who spin-off Class? Series writer and creator Patrick Ness is hear to school you about the premise and the tone. Get the details in the above featurette. [Nerdist]

Which Star Wars Rebels Funko figures do you plan to buy? Tell me in the comments. I’m all over that Chopper.
