When you sit down at the poker table to play with these Game of Thrones character playing cards, just remember not to ante up against anyone named after a city in Essos. Somebody that has earned the moniker âVolantisâ in the world of ice and fire has definitely learned how to win some gold coins.
This custom, handmade deck of playing cards from the Etsy shop JokerandtheThief were created âin the style of traditional Bicycleâ cards, and uses Westerosi kings and queens, along with someone from their inner circle, for the picture cards. They are based on George RR Martinâs second book in his A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Clash of Kings, and they âinclude subtle references to the books as well as the show,â along with a map of Westeros on the back.
- Spades went to the Starks, with King Robb, his mother Catelyn as the queen, and Jon Snow as the Jack.
- Diamonds (fittingly) went to the Lannisters, with King Joffrey, his mother Cersei, and Hand of the King Tyrion as the Jack.
- Hearts went (of course) to Stannis Baratheon, with Melisandre getting the nod over Selyse (agreed!), and Ser Davos the Onion Knight, Stannis’ Hand, as the Jack.
- Clubs wentâ¦uh, well this one is kind of all over the place. Renly is the King (Balon Greyjoy is so mad right now), with Daenerys getting the spot as Queen, and Jorah as the Jack.
Also, the two Jokers in the deck are Varys and Littlefinger. Nice.
These arenât just fun to look at either, they are designed to be used, which is why they are made of âheavy cardstockâ that âfeel just like casino quality Bicycle playing cards,â sized 2.5â x 3.5.â
These arenât the siteâs first Game of Thrones cards–they have also created a deck using sigils and skulls.
If you want to order any of them though hurry up, because they are already back ordered, and they arenât exactly official.
