Hasbro Studios Has Planned Out the Next Decade of TRANSFORMERS Movies

Earlier this year, Hasbro Studios and Paramount assembled a Transformers writers’ room with Akiva Goldsman ( A Beautiful Mind, Batman & Robin), The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, and several other screenwriters to plan out the next several Transformers movies. And while Transformers 5 was always going to happen, it appears the Transformers writers’ room has much larger plans than previously realized.

While speaking at the MIP Junior event in Cannes, Hasbro Studios President Stephen J. Davis revealed that the Transformers writers’ room has charted a course for the next ten years of Transformers movies.

“We just finished, as some of you may have read, just an incredible experience,” said Davis. “We decided that we wanted to plot out the next ten years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a room over a three-month period of time. Nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with, shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind and written a bunch of great movies. And they plotted out the next ten years of Transformers. Similarly, we are doing the same in television and in digital. So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way, and 6 and 7 and 8.”

In addition to Goldsman and Kirkman, the Transformers writers’ room included Fringe veteran Jeff Pinkner, former Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, X-Men: The Last Stand screenwriter Zak Penn, Black Hawk Down writer Ken Nolan, the screenwriting duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Christina Hodson in addition to Stanford science major Lindsey Beer, who is breaking into the industry as a screenwriter.

Paramount and Hasbro are also planning an animated Transformers origin move from a script by Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man), which will take place on Cybertron. As for Transformers 5, Michael Bay is likely to stay with the franchise and direct his fifth Transformers movie alongside returning star Mark Wahlberg.
