Hasbro Busts Out a Supervillain Prison Set for Comic-Con

With DC’s Suicide Squad likely to be a major highlight of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we’re sensing a bit of a theme from Hasbro and Marvel as they move to compete. Namely, the notion of a squad of misfits in confinement who are awesome together. We saw this in Hasbro’s 3-3/4-inch exclusive set highlighting the Collector and his collection, and now we see it in their 6-inch scale. The exclusive Marvel Legends set in that size highlights the Raft, the prison for supervillains that was seen onscreen in Captain America: Civil War. Although there, it was unjustly holding the good guys. In this toy set, it contains prisoners whose evil deeds landed them there.

You know Abomination from the Incredible Hulk movie; he is a longtime nemesis of the green guy. Sandman has fought Spider-Man across all media. Purple Man might be better known to you as Kilgrave, archenemy of Jessica Jones, and it’s a bit of a shame we see him in toy form before her (though this may be a sign that a figure for the private eye is on the way). Enchantress is an Asgardian foe of Thor’s who has also faced the Hulk, so might she have a front-row seat for Ragnarok. Dreadknight, whose hilarious real name is “Bram Velsing,” is a disgruntled protégée of Dr. Doom, and as such will probably not show up in Marvel movies without significant changes, if ever. Spider-Man is apparently around to keep this motley crew from breaking out, but more likely is there to provide name recognition so Hasbro can hook casual buyers to grab a set for their kids. The images of Electro et al are just there to taunt you.

Check out some hi-res images below for a closer look at the Raft. Does Spidey stand a chance? Can these villains coexist? It’s up to you, toy player, but even before these go on sale, we’d love to hear your thoughts on how the battle might go. Leave us a comment with your best guess.
