Witches and wizards rejoice! In a move we can really only call magical, the Muggles over at Warner Brothers have teamed up with IMAX to bring all of the original Harry Potter movies back to life on the big screen for a single week.

As reported by THR this morning, starting on October 14, IMAX theaters around the world will be showing all eight Harry Potter movies, complete with new preview footage from Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them with exclusive introductions from Eddie Redmayne and other members of the new movie’s cast. You can investigate ticket availability (we hear they are disappearing faster than sparkly baubles disappear around nifflers to be honest) and just which theaters will be showing them here.
It’s not terribly surprising that Warner Brothers is going all out in light of Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them‘s approaching November 18 premiere date. You can start your week of movie dates with another very special event from IMAX and Warner Brothers that will happen next Thursday, October 13. “A Return To J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World” will have exclusive footage from the new movie and a live Q&A with cast members that will be simulcast around the globe. Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight, and director David Yates will all be participating with the majority of the cast in London, with Farrell and Voight beaming in from Los Angeles. You can find tickets here.
So far we haven’t been able to find a catch-all ticket, so you’re going to have to sift through the times and availability to make sure you get a ticket to each movie and the additional event. This will be the first time that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets have been digitized for the larger format screens at IMAX, and fans can look forward to seeing the magic of these earlier films in a whole new way. Plus, who doesn’t want the chance to watch Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint grow up before their eyes in IMAX?
If ever there was a better excuse to brush off your wizard robes, grab your pet toad, and high tail it to the theaters, this is it! But for the love of all that’s magical, if you’re unhappy with your concessions purchases, please don’t try to leave the theater. We hear the staffs are being trained by the Trolley Lady.
With the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them on the horizon, will you be capturing as many tickets as you possibly can and hoarding them in a magical suitcase like Newt Scamander or will you be happy to grab just one magical ticket to a single screening? And perhaps more importantly, will you feel the need to stick to chronological order in your viewing or will you grab what you can as they are available? Tell us in the comments below!
