Harley Quinn’s Origin Story Teased in SUICIDE SQUAD Set Photo

Warning: Mild spoilers regarding Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn after the gif.

Given the kind of absurdly high number of photos that have trickled out of the Suicide Squad set, Warner Bros. should really swing into the curve and start releasing photos of their own. Or increase security. Or given the case of a recent photo shared by someone on the set, they should hand out an extensive manual about which photos can and can’t be shared. Margot Robbie’s (Harley Quinn) stunt double Ingrid Kleinig used to have an Instagram account. However, she posted what she might have thought was an innocent set picture showing an Ace Chemicals logo. Oops. Here’s a screencap of the now deleted picture (the whole account has been deleted):

Ace Chemicals plays a part in both The Joker’s development and Harley Quinn’s origin. In the post-New 52 Suicide Squad comics from DC, her origin from Batman: The Animated Series was altered. She was still The Joker’s therapist in Arkham and she still fell for him even though in this version, she was fully aware that he was lying. In the story by writer Adam Glass and artists Clayton Henry and Ig Guara, Dr. Harleen Quinzel helped The Joker escape, and he took her to Ace Chemical’s plant. There, he put Harley Quinn through the same accident that he’d been through. He threw her into the chemicals, and they had a similar effect on her skin and brain as they did on him.

So, if a stunt double playing Harley Quinn is around Ace Chemicals, it seems like they’re pulling from that particular arc and the abusive relationship between The Joker and Harley Quinn will play some part in the film. I’m hoping it’s more about Harley Quinn and less about her puddin’.
