Chances are the mere prospect of a new season of Hannibal already has you salivating — people-meat or not. Well, you’re in luck because EW has the first look at the third season of Bryan Fuller’s critically acclaimed cult thriller. Brief though it may be, the trailer follows Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) as he doggedly hunts Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) across a variety of beautifully shot locales in what is presumed to be Florence, Italy.

Ugh, why is the summer so far away? I know that good things come to those who wait, but the prospect of wiling away several more months until Hannibal returns to NBC is more excruciating than watching Mason Verger give himself a shave.

The new season will weave in elements of Thomas Harris’ Hannibal novels, including both Hannibal Rising and Red Dragon. Though it will hew close to the source material, the series will appropriate different aspects of the books to create a different origin story for Dr. Lecter than many are used to.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m oddly hungry.
