HAMILTON-Inspired Fashion Collection Is Inimitable and Original

Hamilton has swept the country, the Tonys, and of course, the internet with a fervor that can’t be denied. They’ve inspired amazing fan art and tributes, and now Elhoffer Design has released a handmade collection of gowns modeled after the hit musical. Check out the gallery below for a closer look at some of the historic designs.

The collection includes dresses and tunic tops with handcrafted details like fabric-covered and metal buttons, cuffed sleeves, pocket flaps above side-seam pockets, epaulettes, lace detailing, and more. The looks are all inspired by the costumes that Paul Tazewell brought to life on stage at the Richard Roger’s Theater in New York. Not only did Catherine Elhoffer find inspiration in the gowns and uniforms worn by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, and Renee Elise Goldsberry, but you can tell from the photoshoot below that the models are also big fans. The company’s press release on the collection describes the shoot as a fun experience that had everyone dancing and singing along with the soundtrack as they recreated some of the now iconic scenes that have swept the internet via GIFs and videos.

All of Elhoffer’s designs are made by hand, and while they may look like separate pieces of shirt and coat in some cases, it’s all an optical allusion thanks to topstitching and asymmetrical designs. I’m not a huge wearer of dresses personally, but some of these designs are epically cute, and I might be tempted. Which look is your favorite? Tell us in the comments below!
