Before you start, yes, I know it’s only August. I know that we still have fresh tomatoes and corn to eat, that outdoor summer movie season is in full swing, and that Halloween is still several months away. I know this. However, pumpkin spice season is just around the corner, and though I am sometimes mercilessly mocked by my friends and coworkers about my love of all things spooky, I’m still counting down to Halloween. As senior editor Dan Casey put it, “If you were to open your closet door, it would erupt in deluge of skeletons and pumpkins.” He is not wrong.
(He also PSL-shamed me on The Dan Cave, but that’s neither here nor there.)
Luckily for me, the universe knows that October is the best time of year, and has sent a little treat to tide us over ’til All Hallow’s Eve: The Nightmare Before Christmas and Crimson Peak Funko Pop! Figures and Moopez! Not only has Funko brought back Jack Skellington in his Pumpkin King costume and added a deadly nightshade-toting Sally figure to its Pop! line, but they’ve also added a whole new collection of Nightmare Before Christmas Mopeez. What are Mopeez, you ask? Why, they’re adorable, slouchy little plush figures!
We’d just tell you what the whole line entails, but Funko! made a Burton-esque rhyme for the occasion, and it’s too cute not to share:
Donât forget to add Vampire Teddy and Oogie Boogie to your collection, too!
But that’s not all! Funko is also adding Crimson Peak Pop! figures in honor of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming gothic romance. The collection includes Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska), the young woman who falls for a mysterious young gentleman, Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) and joins him at his totally-not-haunted mansion. There’s also a Mother Ghost figure, who is, well… absolutely terrifying, not going to lie. Can’t wait to see what mystical tricks are up her sleeve. Check out the rest of the collection in the gallery below.
The Crimson Peak collection hits stores in September, just in time for the film’s October 16 release. The Nightmare Before Chrismas Mopeez will be released in October, and you can bet your pumpkin I’ll be picking some up to adorn the Nerdist office.
Which sp0o0o0ky Funko figures will you be picking up this Nerdoween? Let us know in the comments below!
