To celebrate The Legend of Zelda‘s 30th anniversary (feel old yet?), a couple of fans by the name of Scott and Mike are making a voxel-based The Legend of Zelda tribute. This 3D-version of the classic not only looks gorgeous, but can also be played on your browser. Say goodbye to all your productivity today. So, if you want to start your Zelda celebration early, this is definitely one way to enjoy the title that started the legend in the first place. Nintendo also has its own festivities planned, but who wants to wait?
You can visit www.Zelda30Tribute.com to try the game out. It’s playable with on-screen buttons (or just your keyboard), and even works on mobile platforms. The project, which was built in WebGL, mixes 3D voxels with the classic music. Nintendo usually removes fan projects rather quickly, but it’s still live at the time of this writing. Let’s hope the big N has a change of heart regarding these types of fan creations, and lets this live.
It’s not a complete product yet, but if it’s around long enough, it would be great to get a finished product. The art and music are on point, so it’s worth letting the devoted fans see this rad tribute through.
Are you guys going to ignore work to play this 3D version of the classic that started it all? What will you be doing to celebrate 30 years of Zelda? What do you hope Nintendo does to celebrate the franchise? Let us know in the comments below!
