GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’s Awesome Mixtape Is Available on Limited Edition Mondo Vinyl

Get ready to unleash your inner rockStar-Lord and groove with Groot–The Guardians Of The Galaxy Awesome Mixtape Volume 1 is getting a limited edition vinyl release. Thanks to the generous homies at our favorite art boutique MONDO–who recently acquired one of our favorite record labels–the best film soundtrack of the year will get the deluxe treatment for all you megafans, audiophiles, and would-be-saviors.

What will be MONDO’s very first screen-printed album package will house an 180 gram purple vinyl record, featuring all the tracks from the Awesome Mixtape. Peter Quill’s mom was a very classy lady of discerning taste–she would want us to listen to Blue Suede and 10cc this way. Of course Star-Lord is excused because portability is essential to saving the galaxy from the terrors of Ronan and his scary, evil smurf face.

The striking artwork–REALLY like how this cover art looks in greyscale–was done by Tyler Stout, who has previously composed work for Iron Man and The Avengers. Each vinyl sleeve will come with one of nine randomly selected handbills featuring our favorite characters from the movie, which you can peep below.

handbill_blogWhile you anxiously bide your time (damn you, shipping!), be sure to check out our Awesome Mixtape Volume 2. playlist on Spotify to tide you over. After some serious research and collaborative deliberation, Team Nerdist collected a handful of ultra-smooth 70s pop rock and projected what we think will be on Peter Quill’s next mixtape.

Head here to place your pre-order, which will ship in early 2015. Unless time travel is invented this month, which would be handy.

PS: This post was hard to write because my fingers are literally trembling with anticipation. So pumped to add this to my ever-growing vinyl collection.

Blue SWEDE. It’s supposed to be a pun on suede/Swede, and it’s meta in the sense that only a Swede would get that.
