GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Director Says No One’s Found ‘Big’ Easter Egg

Against all expectations, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the biggest box office hits of 2014 and it became the media behemoth’s newest franchise. There’s already a planned sequel on the way, alongside a Guardians of the Galaxy Animated series, and numerous comic books to boot. It’s also become a pastime for fans to pour over every detail of the Guardians of the Galaxy film in search of Easter eggs. Director James Gunn has encouraged fans to keep looking, especially after the movie hit Blu-ray and DVD. But is it possible that everyone has still managed to miss a major Easter egg in the film? According to Gunn, the answer is yes.

During a session with fans on Facebook, Gunn was asked if all of the Easter eggs had been discovered. He replied, “They have not all been found. No one has found the big one, really. Maybe once someone came close.”

How is it possible that Guardians of the Galaxy fans have managed to miss “the big one” for over a year? Gunn isn’t in a big hurry to point it out to us, as he later noted on Twitter. “No, I’m not giving any of you a clue on where the final Easter egg is in #GotG I AM READY PLAYER ONE BUT NO MONEY OR NOTHIN.”

Gunn did address one fan’s intriguing theory that the Collector had Red Skull in his collection, which would have been the first appearance of Captain America’s nemesis since the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. However, Gunn stated that the holding tube in question was part of Stan Lee’s originally planned cameo in the first movie.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that Gunn is simply having a joke at everyone’s expense. We won’t know for sure until he either reveals the big Easter egg—or someone finds it first.

What do you think, Guardians of the Galaxy fans? Is there one last Easter egg to find in the first movie? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
